Need some inspiration on ways to fill your weekends? Our real estate agents got you covered with a list of outdoor activities you must try this year.

  • Knoebels Amusement Resort - 391 Knoebels Blvd, Elysburg, PA 17824

Just a short drive south of Danville is America's largest free-admission amusement park. Knoebels Amusement Resort has 60 rides and attractions, including Phoenix, which many consider the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world. A water park, entertainment area, and amazing food top off the amenities at this nostalgic amusement park that dates back to 1926. If you want to spend the weekend in Elysburg, there are well-maintained campgrounds nearby.
  • Ricketts Glen State Park - 695 PA-487, Benton, PA 17814

One of the most gorgeous places in all of Pennsylvania, Ricketts Glen State Park is 13,050 acres of natural scenery. You'll definitely want to explore the Falls Trail System, which offers several free-flowing waterfalls, including the 94-foot Ganoga Falls. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, or just enjoying nature -- this state park is a great place to spend a summer Saturday. If you want to spend the night, there is a clean tent campground and cabins available to rent.
  • Pioneer Tunnel - 1900 Oak St, Ashland, PA 17921

Want to experience the history of a real anthracite coal mine? Pioneer Tunnel closed in 1931, but visitors can tour this mine that runs nearly 2,000 feet into the side of a mountain. Catch a ride in the steam train, which will take you on a 40-minute educational and entertaining tour through the mine. The temperature in the mine averages 52 degrees, so you'll want to bring a sweater. Afterwards, the kids can enjoy the playground and snack bar. Tours are first come, first served.
  • Rohrbach's Farm Market - 240 Southern Dr, Catawissa, PA 17820

Shop this farm market, bakery, and gift shop that is loaded with some of Central PA's best food and wine. Rohrbach's Farm Market offers some of the freshest produce and tastiest preserved food items around. You can also stock up on high-quality grass-fed beef and sip a beverage from Freas Farm Winery. This Catawissa farm hosts plenty of family-friendly events on the weekends. Don't forget to take home an apple dumpling or a whoopie pie!
  • Rolling Hills At Red Deer Farm - 63 Pinnacle Dr, Catawissa, PA 17820

Tour this beautiful 200-acre farm that is home to over 400 red deer. The Rolling Hills at Red Deer Farm is an educational activity for both adults and children. You can feed the deer by hand (pellets are 1 lb buckets for $1). While the deer are fun to see, you'll also appreciate the beautiful photo-worthy landscape. Tours run from May through August each year. There is also a gift shop on-site with deer-themed merchandise.
