Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Locally At These Locales

CENTURY 21 Mertz & Associates March 13, 2022

Take a break from your search for Lewisburg homes for sale and celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Whether you're searching for a family-friendly outing or plan to spend the evening with friends or a partner, there are multiple spots to consider for your holiday plans. Our real agents suggest checking out some of these local locales for delicious cuisine and refreshing beverages.

1. Rooney's Pub

Located at 8911 River Rd. in New Columbia, Rooney's Pub is an Irish eatery that serves food and beverages in an inviting, family-friendly environment. Originally opened in 2017, Rooney's Pub offers a variety of Irish-inspired dishes and accepts reservations. Try the Guinness-battered fried Haddock, complete with the Irish colcannon potatoes and hot bacon dressing. Or, sample the Banger's & Mash or shepherd's pie. There is also an assortment of customizable burgers, subs, and sandwiches to choose from.

2. Speedy's Place

Speedy's Place is at 13 N Arch St. in Milton. It was previously the Stetler Bar. However, the location has been completely remodeled and now serves spirits and food. While the fare and beverages at Speedy's Place aren't Irish-themed, this fun, affordable restaurant offers a number of options perfect for a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Wings are available on Thursdays and Sundays; choose from dry flavors (like the Caribbean jerk or garlic parmesan rubs) or wet flavors (including selections that utilize a variety of Sweet Baby Ray's sauces). The seafood platter, buffalo chicken wrap, and Yosemite Sam burger (a burger that includes Speedy's Place's secret sauce, pickles, crispy onion straws, and cheddar-jack cheese) are popular options with Speedy's Place customers.

3. Brendan's Towne Tavern

Nestled at 600 Market St. in Lewisburg, Brendan's Towne Tavern has been a downtown staple since it opened in 1962. This tavern is known for its inviting atmosphere, home-style cooking, and extensive selection of craft beers. Dine at one of the three indoor dining rooms or enjoy a pleasant evening on the outdoor patio. Or, grab a stool at the bar for an ice-cold pre-dinner cocktail. Start your meal with the tempura-battered fried banana peppers, an Irish pierogi, or the Tavern clam bake. For your entree, sample the craft beer shrimp, the tortellini pesto, the Reuben, or fish sandwich.

4. Bull Run Tap House

The Bull Run Tap House is located at 605 Market St. in Lewisburg. Begin your celebration with the gouda cheese curds or pretzel braid. Build your own salad for a healthier St. Patrick's day meal, or create your own sandwich for a tasty, heartier option. Before you leave, stop by the onsite art gallery that features pieces from artists who are committed to preserving farmland. The pieces are for sale, and a percentage of each sale goes towards the Centre County Farmland Trust and Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania.

5. Eclipse Craft Brewing

Eclipse Craft Brewing serves an extensive menu of craft beer and specialty pizzas. Try the Reuben pizza for a fun twist on this classic sandwich, or enjoy the popular buffalo chicken pizza. The menu also includes a selection of cocktails, Pennsylvania wines, and sodas. A glass of root beer or strawberry soda are excellent St. Patrick's day alternatives if you prefer a non-alcohol beverage.
