1. Lewisburg Parks
Lewisburg is home to
several parks where you can walk your doggo on a leash:
Hufnagle Park on St. Louis Street, has a walking path, in addition to a pavilion, fields, picnic area, benches, and playground;
Lewisburg Area Recreation Park at St. Mary's Street & N. 15th Street has a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court, skate park, playground, pavilion, soccer fields and walking paths where you can walk your canine friend;
Soldiers Park. Riverfront, N. Water Street. has lots of shade to shield you and your dog from the summer sun.
2. Selinsgrove Dog Park. 243 W Sassafras St., Selinsgrove
Selinsgrove Dog Park is a small, fenced space where dogs can run off-leash. The park has only one space, so small dogs will be with bigger dogs. Selinsgrove is just 14 miles from Lewisburg, and is easy to reach via U.S. 15. There are restrooms for humans nearby, and for dogs, there is water from a fountain, poop bags, and plenty of shade from trees. There is also some basic agility equipment, including weave poles, hurdles, a tunnel, and a ramp.
3. Dale's Ridge Trail. 1471 Strawbridge Road, off Route 192 west of Lewisburg
Dale's Ridge Trail is part of Merrill W. Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy. The trail is part of a 2-mile loop which borders Buffalo Creek. Enjoy scenic ridge-top views of the Buffalo Valley, as well as wildflowers and birds. There are several habitats, including a streamside buffer, mature woodlands, and open fields. As always, bring along doggie waste bags and do clean up after your pooch.
4. Milton State Park. Route 642, Sunbury
Milton State Park is less than 5 miles from Lewisburg, via PA-405N. It's a great getaway for you and your canine, with an 82-acre island on the West Branch Susquehanna River. The northern portion of the park offers day-use facilities, while the southern part is composed of woodlands for hiking and experiencing nature.
5. Turtle Creek Dog Park. 1225 Supplee Mill Road
Turtle Creek Dog Park is a large, off-leash dog park that stays open until 9 p.m. every day. It's recommended you bring water, treats, and doggie waste bags for cleaning up after your dog. The park is not separated for large and small dogs. There is a fenced area for containing dogs as they play.
